What shots does Oregon require?
Vaccines protecting against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, and rubella are required before a child's second birthday. It is recommended that you bring your child to the doctor at age 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months, and between 15 and 18 months (five visits), so that he or she can get the all of the following required shots:
- 1 vaccination against measles/mumps/rubella (MMR)
- 3 vaccinations against polio
- 4 vaccinations against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP)
- 1 vaccination against varicella (chickenpox)
- 3 hepatitis B
For children under 60 months (5 years) of age, 4 vaccinations against haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), a major cause of spinal meningitis, are also required.
Additional vaccine doses are needed prior to kindergarten entry, in early adolescence and in adulthood.
