Overview of Operations:
The Treasurer/Tax Collector's Office mails to property owners tax statements and collects the property taxes for Crook County. Kathy Gray is the current County Treasurer.
The Treasurer's Department collects the revenue from the departments within the county. The Treasurer distributes the property taxes to all the taxing districts upon which the taxes are levied. The Treasurer's Department also invests the county funds and oversees the banking needs for the county. The Treasurer also is appointed as the Budget Officer for the county, preparing the county's annual budget and working with the departments on budget issues that come up throughout the year.
The Crook County Finance Department supports 23 county departments. This includes such functions as paying the county's bills, working with vendors to maintain vendor files and accurate payment history, process and manages payroll for approximately 200 employees, along with employee benefit orientation, maintain computer personnel records, maintain payroll payable accounts and payments, manages the county's state and federal payroll tax payments, which includes quarterly reporting, workers' compensation reporting and PERS reporting. The Finance Department provides monthly revenue/expenditure reports, quarterly payroll reports and other financial reporting as requested. Furthermore, this department is responsible for working with the county's outside auditor, assists in coordinating the county's annual audit and preparation of financial documents related to the audit.

Property Tax Payment Schedule:
First One/Third due on November 15, 2009
Second One/Third due on February 15, 2010
Third One/Third due on May 15, 2010
Property Tax Payment Discounts and Dates:
If paid in full by November 15 there is a 3% discount
If Two/Thirds paid by November 15 there is a 2% discount
No discount is allowed on payments for less than Two/Thirds
Interest Charged on Property Tax at the Rate of 1.333333% per month or 16% annually on the delinquent tax. The interest changes on the 16th of each month.

Notice to Vendors:
Crook County pays their bills on the 10th and 25th of each month. Bills must be approved and submitted to the Finance Department approximately 3-4 business days PRIOR to the 10th or 25th. The following schedule of due dates for turning in bills for the calendar year of 2010.
